Membership Application

What is Membership?

Membership at Redemption Red Deer says:

I belong here. And God says that believers belong together (Hebrews 10:23-25).

I affirm, believe and support the teaching of this church. And God says the believers had all things in common including devotion to the Apostle’ teaching (Acts 2:42-47).

I share the same ministry goals as Redemption Red Deer. And God says that believers are to be committed to one another for the sake of spiritual impact (Ephesians 4:16).

I accept responsibility for this group of believers in the family of God. And that is God’s plan as well (Galatians 6:1-2, 10).

I am accountable to this body of believers and the leaders of Redemption Red Deer. And God says that is how it should be (1 Corinthians 12:20-27).

The Elders' Commitment to Members

The Elders of Redemption Red Deer commit to lead, shepherd, and care for members in the areas of:

Doctrine: paying careful attention to ensure that what we teach, believe, and live is faithful to God’s Word.

Direction: leading in a way that reinforces the vision and direction of Redemption Red Deer according to our mission and six attributes.

Discipleship: actively entrusting the stewardship of the gospel to faithful men and women.

Discipline: guarding God’s sheep from wolves and lovingly administering discipline in humility and grace, as outlined in Scripture.

PREVIOUS CHURCH MEMBERSHIP

PERSONAL TESTIMONY

For the following questions, in 3 - 5 sentences briefly describe your personal story of how you came to know Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENTS

1. I have by faith become a follower of Jesus Christ and I have been baptized as a visible way of
demonstrating that commitment.

2. Because a disciple abides in Christ, I will seek to cultivate deeper intimacy with the Lord through consistent disciplines of Bible study, prayer, and personal witness. I will love others and to maintain unity in fellowship, I will neither criticize nor listen to criticism concerning any member(s) of this body. When personally offended, I will speak directly and lovingly with those involved.

3. Because a disciple grows in the church, I will attend and fully participate in worship services at Redemption Red Deer. I will walk in fellowship with other believers by participating in the small group ministry at some level. I will seek a place to serve at Redemption Red Deer that corresponds with my spiritual gifts and passions. I will financially support the ministries by faithfully giving back to the Lord a biblical portion of my increase.

4. Because a disciple reaches the community, I am committed to evangelism and disciple-making. I will pray for opportunities to tell the gospel to those around me and I will actively support church planting.
